If you live in Arizona, you know all about scorpions. In fact, more than half of the U.S. scorpion population lives in Arizona. And most of that population lives in the Phoenix, Flagstaff, Payson area.
You’re probably also aware that most scorpions come out during the summer, which is known as scorpion season. What you might not know is what scorpion is the most dangerous. Unfortunately, the most dangerous scorpion is also a highly intelligent one. Let’s take a look at this dangerous creature and then cover ways is can be defeated.
Bark Scorpion
The Bark Scorpion is nocturnal and only two inches long. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not a threat. These two features make is even more dangerous. It will find ways into your home under the cover of darkness, and since it’s so small, you’re unlikely to notice it. A Bark Scorpion can maneuver through a slit that is as thin as a credit card. Add that to the cover of night and it could be nesting in your attic as you read this. If that doesn’t happen today, it could happen tomorrow.
Bark Scorpions can also scale walls, which makes them difficult to defeat. And they’re not always on the move. Sometimes they’re hiding under firewood, rocks, bark, or gardening tools. Some people unsuspectingly put their hand in these places and end up with a sting worse and longer-lasting than a bee sting. For children, the elderly, and pets, it can even be fatal. This is why something must be done, even if it’s preventative.
